What you don't need

You'll finish with: A shorter build list than the one you arrived with.

Most of this site teaches you how to build things. This chapter is about not building them.

Skip it when

🤖An agentA project already solves it
🔌A connectorCopy-paste twice a week is faster
💻Claude CodeYou don't want a terminal
💳A bigger planYou're nowhere near the limit

Every layer you add is a layer you maintain.

The honest version

The most common failure isn't building the wrong thing — it's building eight things and maintaining none of them. Two that you actually use beats a folder full of clever files you've forgotten.

What almost everyone genuinely needs

A tidy CLAUDE.md. An offers file. Four hard limits. Maybe one skill you use weekly.

That's Foundations. It's ninety minutes and it's most of the value on this entire site. Everything else is optional depending on what you actually do all day.

Do this now
  1. List what you were planning to build after reading this site.
  2. Cross off anything you couldn't explain the weekly benefit of.
  3. Build what's left, one at a time, a fortnight apart.
Before you move on

Your build list is shorter than it was ten minutes ago.
