What you are actually building
You'll finish with: You can name the four layers and spot the one you are missing.
Most people treat Claude as a chat window. That's the bit you can see, not the bit that matters.
What you're building has four layers, and they stack — bottom first.
The four layers, bottom up
ContextWhat it knows about your business before you type
SkillsYour procedures, written down once
AgentsSpecialists with their own limits
ConnectorsAccess to Xero, your inbox, your CRM
Each layer only works as well as the one under it.
Almost everyone starts at the top because agents sound exciting. Then they wonder why the output is generic. Fix the bottom layer first and everything above it improves for free.
Which one is biting you?
- Output could be about any business → context
- You re-type the same instructions → skills
- Your chat fills with stuff you'll never read → agents
- You keep copying out of a browser tab → connectors
You don't need all four to get value. Start where it hurts. This course builds the bottom one properly, because nothing else works without it.
Do this now
- Read the four symptoms above and pick the one that describes your week.
- If it's "output could be about any business" — you're in the right course, keep going.
- If it's one of the other three, use the search on the home page. There's a course for each.
Before you move on
You can say which layer you're missing, in one sentence, without looking back up the page.
